Did people euthanize their retarded children back in the days when the bible was being written?

The bible just kind of avoids the issue of what to do if ones child is born with a physical abnormality that impairs its ability to ever be able to look after itself, doesn’t it? And people back then didn’t have the facilities that we have today to look after retarded children; retarded children would have been a real burden on an entire family back then. I mean, having a family member that can’t do anything and requires virtually 24/7 care would have been almost impossible for a family back then and they didn’t have taxpayer funded homes where they could send their retarded children…
