Speaking from personal experience as a former phlebotomist. Syringes are thrown away with the needles. No phlebotomist who is smart and knows what they are doing will recap a used needle. That is very dangerous. All laboratories have multiple hazardous waste boxes to dispose of needles and syringes. Most laboratories only use syringes when necessary. Mostly a vacutainer is used. This device allows the person drawing the blood to just insert the tube into the hub and the vaccuum from the tube draws out the blood. It is more complicated to draw blood using a syringe. You have nothing to fear going to a reputable laboratory or hospital for blood work.
